Professional Licensure Disclosure
Jefferson College’s Professional Licensure Policy
As required by the federal regulations outlined in 34 CFR 668.43(a)(5)(v), Jefferson College must provide students with information on whether a program’s curriculum meets or does not meet the educational requirements for licensure or certification within a student’s state of permanent residence. The College maintains an updated list of State Licensing Regulations.
In terms of this professional licensure policy, Jefferson College utilizes the student’s permanent address as provided by the student when they complete the application for general Admissions to determine the student's state of residence. Jefferson College defines “permanent address” as the address of the physical location where the student lives. Conversely, Jefferson College defines “mailing address” as the address where the student would like to receive their mail. On the admissions application, students distinguish their permanent residence from their mailing address, in the event that these two addresses are not the same.
A student’s address is verified and program licensure information is provided to students who reside in a state in which the Jefferson College program does not meet educational certification/licensure requirements at the following points: when a prospective student applies/a new student is accepted for general admission to Jefferson College, when a current student submits an address update, when a current student submits a change of major form, and prior to enrollment in a competitive admissions program.
Students will not be allowed to enroll in any courses if their program of interest does not meet the professional certification/licensure requirements of their permanent address unless students complete the attestation form. A copy of the attestation form is then provided to the Office of Registration and Student Records, and is logged as part of the student’s permanent record.

New Jefferson College Applicant:
As required by the federal regulations outlined in 34 CFR 668.43(a)(5)(v), prior to enrollment in courses, applicants for programs that require professional certification or licensure in the State of Missouri are required to acknowledge the professional certification and licensure requirements in the state considered their permanent address.
If a student applies/intends to apply to a program requiring professional licensure, but the Jefferson College program does not meet the certification/licensure requirements in the student’s state of permanent address, the student must complete the attestation form prior to enrollment in courses indicating they plan to work in a state in which the Jefferson College program does meet the educational certification/licensure requirements. Students who do not complete the attestation will not be able to enroll in that program.
Current Student Updating an Address:
A student’s initial permanent residence as indicated on the application for admission will remain in effect unless and until the student officially notifies Jefferson College that their permanent address has changed. If a student relocates and provides an updated address located in a state where the Jefferson College program does not meet the certification/licensure requirements, the student cannot continue enrollment in courses until the attestation form is completed and submitted to the Office of Registration and Student Records.
Current Student Updating Major/Enrolling in a Competitive Admissions Program:
If a student changes their major and intends to apply/enroll in a Jefferson College program that does not meet the professional certification/licensure requirements in the student’s state of permanent address, the student must complete the attestation form and submit it to the Office of Registration and Student Records before any subsequent enrollment.
