Gerard Uhls Receives Excellence in Teaching Award

Jefferson College is proud to announce that Gerard Uhls, Professor of Automotive Technology, has been honored as a recipient of Emerson's 2024 Excellence in Teaching Award. Uhls is an exceptional educator who consistently goes above and beyond for his students, making him highly deserving of this distinguished accolade.

Emerson is recognizing over 100 local educators as the 2024 honorees of the company’s Excellence in Teaching Awards. The long-standing annual program recognizes instructors throughout the St. Louis area who are selected by their school administration for an exceptional dedication to their students and school community.

“The work of an educator can have a lasting impact on a student” said Akberet Boykin Farr, vice president of human resources – corporate functions at Emerson. “When a teacher is committed to fostering their students’ passions for learning and empowering them to become the best versions of themselves, that person deserves the utmost recognition. Thus, we are excited and privileged to recognize over 100 teachers as this year’s Excellence in Teaching Awards honorees. Congratulations to all our honorees on this much-deserved recognition.”

The Excellence in Teaching Awards program is local to the St. Louis metropolitan area where Emerson is headquartered. The program began in 1989 and is sponsored annually by Emerson.

A complete list of the 2024 award recipients is posted on the Emerson website here. Emerson will publicly recognize and celebrate this year’s honorees in a full-page commemorative advertisement in the Sunday, November 17 edition of the St. Louis Post Dispatch.
