Canvas Learning Management System (LMS)
Jefferson College uses Instructure's Canvas for the delivery of its online courses. Students unfamiliar with the system are encouraged to explore Canvas Guide for Students before classes begin. The mobile application for Canvas can be downloaded from Google Play or the Apple App Store. Instructions for downloading and installing the Mobile App Guides are here. You will need to do a search for "Jeffco" or "jeffco.instructure.com" to find Jefferson College on the Canvas app.
Testing and Online Courses
Online students may be required to take high stakes exams in a secure environment where their identity can be verified. Most commonly, students come to the Hillsboro or Arnold campus for their final exams, but individual instructors may make other arrangements. Students should check their course syllabus carefully to ensure they are able to fulfill such location requirements.
Online Test Proctoring
Any student in need of online test proctoring must inform their instructor of their need. Students enrolled in online courses may be able to use an online proctoring solution at their own cost with instructor approval.

How do I get my student ID?
Your ID is required to check out materials from the Library, use the Testing Center, and access other services or participate in campus activities. You can obtain one in Hillsboro at the Student Center or the Library Circulation Desk, or at Arnold at the Information Desk.
Do I have to come to an orientation? How can I tell?
Some web online and hybrid courses require students to come to campus for course specific orientations. Other courses may utilize online orientations. If an on campus orientation is required, it will be noted in the extended course information on the online course schedule. If you have concerns or questions about the orientation be sure to contact your instructor as they can provide you with detailed information.
How do I get textbooks?
You can purchase your textbooks or other materials from the campus bookstore. Textbooks can be purchased online by going to the bookstore’s website. You can also call the bookstore at (636) 481-3290 or (636) 797-3000, extension 3290. Be sure to mention you are in an online course since textbooks sometimes vary from on-campus classes.
My instructor says I need Microsoft Word/PowerPoint. How do I get these?
If you only need to view Word and PowerPoint files, it’s best to use viewer software, as it takes up less room on your computer. WordViewer and PowerPoint Viewer applications are sufficient. RealPlayer will allow you to access music and slides, and Adobe Acrobat Reader is very useful for pdf files.
If you need to edit documents and slideshows, you have free access to Office 365, which contains Word and PowerPoint.
