As a former NJCAA, NCAA and AVCA All-American, Jefferson College Head Volleyball Coach Aida Steiger (Antanaviciute) knows what it takes to be a winner–both on the court and behind the bench.

After serving two seasons as assistant coach for Jo Ellen Stringer, Aida is only the second head coach in the program’s history. Having finished her master’s degree program in Sports Management at Missouri Baptist University in the fall of 2007, she also teaches in the Health and Physical Education Department.

Aida has been instrumental in skill training and player development, bringing a wealth of knowledge and excellent playing experience to the highly successful Jefferson College program. Her student-centered approach is a reflection of the institution’s mission and commitment to quality education.

As a player at Jefferson College and St. Louis University, she received numerous awards and accolades while breaking several records. She tied the record for most kills in NCAA history and was ranked second nationally in kills while at Jefferson. During her athletic career at St. Louis University, Aida was the program’s first AVCA All-American, First Team All-District, and First Team All-Conference USA. She was the first person in any sport to be named C-USA Player of the Week four times in the same season.

Her other awards include MCCAC All-Conference, Region 16 All-Region Team, Who’s Who Among Students at American Junior Colleges, Conference USA All-Conference, St. Louis University MVP 2004-05, Fairfield Invitational MVP, Billiken All-Tournament Team, and AVCA All-Region Team.
